DIY House Painting

Before
 DIY House Painting:

I am really so eager to paint our house since when we moved last Aprl 2011,  the paint covered our house interior all the while was just a primer, and it feels like "nothing-so-special" kind of feeling.

Just with a Primer

I do not like other people/worker getting inside our own house since as I have mentioned earlier we already have moved in and I do not feel comfortable other people getting inside our house, so without a doubt, I had a do-it-yourself house painting job after an intensive research in you tube, reading for tips and hands on experience with my painiting job. I did not regret my decision.

I bought all the things needed at the nearest Paint store near our house :

Elohim Paint Center
No. 19 Kalaw, cor Avenida Sts, Brgy Pinagbuklod Ph-4
Bahayang Pag-asa Subd. Imus, Cavite

I painted our house part by part,  started with my kid's room, painted their room Pink Olay as they requested their room to be in color pink since I have both girls.

Things Needed:

Pink Olay (1 galloon)             - Walls                                                525p
Sweet Havannah (1 galloon)  - Ceiling                                               525p
Terra Cotta (1/2 galloon)       - Cornesa, Edges and Doors                275p

Boysen Putty (1 Liter) - For smoothing the rough surfaces                  155p

3 Paint Trays                                                                                       35p/each
3 Paint rollers (9')                                                                                50p/each
3 Paint Brush  (2')                                                                                30p/each
Painter's Tape (for the edges)                                                               20p

I bought the A-Plus brand of Paint it is a bit odorless and since it is water based, mixture is no sweat, very convenient since it can be both used over on Cement and Wood. You may refer to the site below for the chart color :

Just need to very organized and team work with the one helping you to finish it smoothly:

1. Put all your appliances and furnitures out of the room to be painted, if it is so heavy to move, you may cover it with a plastic enough to cover the appliances or furnitures, cover the floor as well with news paper.

2. Clean all the surfaces that needs to painted, use putty to smoothen the rough surfaces, make sure to apply it evenly to the surface.

3. While waiting for the putty to dry (before putting on the paint, make sure putty is all dried up), put on the painter's tape to the edges and cornesa so to cover it up since it will be a different paint color to apply.

4. Use sturdy stairs, the collapsable one if you at home for your safety.

5. Use the paint brushes first for the edges.

6. Open the Paint Galloon, mix with water, just make sure the mixture is not too thick.

7. Start with the ceiling using the paint roller. then the cornesa using the paint brush then paint the wall using the paint roller, then the edges using the paint brush.

8. Apply the first coating, then after an hour, apply the second coating.

9. Then do the finishing touches.

10. Clean up the room, then put back all the stuff to it's proper places.

After

Pink Room

Tadah! I have painted my kid's room successfully with the help of my very own kasambahay. The color was well coordinated though there were rough surfaces and uneven paint coating, I admit, but I am still happy, before I was just coloring my dream house in one of my drawings, who would have thought I would be painting my own dream house!!

With my kids favorite stuff toys

I am done now with our kitchen, my next project is our room and my receiving area.  Then my following project will be our tiles installation care of my dad.

  5. Interior painting is something that can be easily and inexpensively done by any homeowner. Even for the person who has never done any painting, it is a chore that can be accomplished. It just takes the proper procedure and the use of some simple tips. In no time, a room can be transformed just by changing the color.
